# Budget statuses

> What Draft, In Review, Approved and Archived mean, and what the unmapped count tells you.

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Draft | Uploaded and processed. Mapping happens here. Use **Activate budget** to make it live. |
| In Review | Live: visible across reports and variance analysis, and still editable. Awaiting approval. |
| Approved | The final plan of record, locked for editing. An approver can reopen it. |
| Archived | Set aside but not deleted. |

## The unmapped count

Shown on each sheet tab and on the budgets list: how many line items still have no account. Anything above zero means part of your budget is invisible to variance analysis.
