# Finish and approve your budget

> Set dimensions on each line, clear the unmapped count on every tab, then activate and approve.

Once lines are mapped to accounts, three things remain before the budget is ready: dimensions, the other tabs, and making it live.

## Set the dimensions

Click any row in **Review budget** to expand it. Alongside the GL code, each line can carry department, region, entity, cost centre, product line and currency.

> **Dimensions make the reports you want.** The GL code alone gives a company-wide P\&L. Dimensions let you filter variance by branch and give each department head their own view. If you plan to report by branch, set it now; adding it later means revisiting every line.

## Clear every tab

Each sheet tab carries its own unmapped count. Finishing the P\&L feels like finishing the budget, but the balance sheet and cash flow tabs have their own lines. Work along the tab bar until every warning badge is gone.

## Make it live, then approve it

First check the totals against the workbook you uploaded. If revenue, expenses and net surplus match what was signed off, nothing was lost.

1. **Activate budget** moves it from **Draft** to **In Review**. It becomes visible in reports and variance analysis and stays editable.
2. **Approve budget** marks it as the final plan of record and locks it for editing. An approver can reopen it.
3. **Archive** sets a budget aside without deleting it.

> **Unmapped lines never reach variance analysis.** They stay in the budget total with nothing to compare against, so variance looks better or worse than it is. The confirmation dialog shows how many are left. If it is not zero, cancel and finish mapping.
